Richard MaRichard Ma has brought to ADSC his extensive expertise in modeling and economic and incentive issues in network systems. His background is bringing an important new perspective to multiple areas of ADSC's research mission.
He is currently working on two projects at ADSC: one under the power grid IT program, and another under the Interactive Digital Media (IDM) program. The power grid project focuses on ways to incentivize users to shed load during peak hours via pricing. For that research, Ma is working to develop an understanding of the economics of power production and consumption, so as to develop appropriate pricing schemes. The IDM project focuses on how to provide Quality of Service (QoS) for interactive multimedia applications.
Ma received his B.Sc. and M.Phil. in Computer Science & Engineering from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and earned his Ph.D. at Columbia University. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Computing at the National University of Singapore as well as a Research Scientist at ADSC.
